This Ignition kit is a direct replacement for all Chrysler single pick-up
Electronic Ignition Systems.
By delivering a higher output this kit will improve the efficiency of your
engine by supplying a hotter spark to help ignite the low octane fuel available
today. Combined with it’s unique ability to hold the timing where you set
it while most other ECU type systems will retard the timing at higher RPM.
LIMITED WARRANTY
2 Years from Date of Purchase
If this Module or coil should fail for any reason other than intentional
abuse, misapplication or incorrect installation,
FBO Systems will
replace the defective component free of charge.
If a failure should occur, return the defective component to any Authorized
FBO Ignition Dealer or directly to FBO Systems with proof of purchase date
for replacement under this warranty. Warranty is restricted to only
the defective component and does not cover any labor to remove or reinstall.
FBO Systems is not responsible for any injury, property damage or other consequential
damages arising directly or indirectly from actual or alleged defects in
material or workmanship.
Cap and Rotor are warranted against defects and workmanship on delivery and
should be part of your regular routine maintenance schedule. Ballast
resistors burn out from voltage spikes, poor grounds, incorrect mounting
not allowing air space for proper cooling and cracking of the porcelain by
over tightening the mounting bolts. Ballast resistors are not covered
under this warrantee; we use the FBO B688 Ballast and they can be purchased from any
FBO dealer or us. The MSD 8214 is an acceptable replacement.
It is the sole responsibility of the purchaser to determine the compatibility
of these components to his/her application.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
This is a direct replacement kit and should plug directly into your existing
wire harness with no modifications.
It is imperative that the module case be
grounded securely to the
body, the module is grounded through the case. Failure to secure a
good ground on this unit will cause failure of the module and void your warranty.
Clean the mounting points to bare metal to ensure a perfect ground.
If in doubt add a 12g wire to the mounting screw and run it to a clean ground.
The engine must be grounded through a correct and large enough strap to insure
correct grounding to the chassis.
If in doubt or you have any questions regarding this system call
541-942-5920 for technical assistance.
Do not attempt to run this ignition system with an aluminum contact distributor
cap, cap and or rotor failure will occur.
This system may be connected to direct battery power and bypass the Ballast
Resistor to further increase output; however, the absolute maximum continuous
run time should not exceed 30 minutes. Exceeding this run time may
cause damage to the ECU or coil and will void the warranty, we recommend
using a simple bypass toggle switch with a “direct power-ON” warning light.
4 Pin Vs. 5 Pin…. all replacement modules for Chrysler Ignition systems use
a 4 Pin connector. The older style 5 pin connector just plugs into
the 4 Pin Module. Except Dodge Trucks with the Heavy Duty Emissions
Cycle Carburetor with Electronically Controlled Vacuum Kicker.
Plug Gap guidelines: 8:1 to 9.5:1 Compression .040-.042
9.5:1 or greater
.038 to .040
Warning: Incorrect plug gap or heat range can cause detonation
